Building an inground fire pit.
We built our fire pit with a patio surround so you ll need to apply the same steps.
For instance if you just want a basic fire pit dig about 6 to 8 inches down and call it good.
Because regular clay brick can crack at high temperatures we re using firebrick also called refractory brick to line the inside of the easy fire pit walls.
Place one stake in the middle and scrape the ground with the other going around in an even circle.

Fire pit depth really depends on what you want and how into your project you re going to get.
You can go deeper if you want but keep in mind that you don t want the hole so deep you can t enjoy watching the fire.
Install the paver.
Cut a piece of string half that width plus two inches for tying and tie stakes to either end.
Firebrick is a dense brick that s kilned to withstand high temperatures.
For safety choose a spot located away from your house and low hanging limbs or anything else that.
Select your location and lay out your stones.
It s larger thicker and wider than regular brick and you can find it at most brickyards.
