Carpet Eel Blenny

On reefs and seagrass areas benthic solitary carnivorous. A carpet eel blenny congrogadus subducens is also called a wolf eel but it is neither an eel nor a blenny. Wolf eel congrogadus subducens is also known as carpet eel blenny eared eel blenny green wolf eel. It requires a 125 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of hiding places.

Its body is a brownish color with highlights of green. The carpet eel blenny is not really an eel or a blenny. The fish is sexually dimorphic the female is pinkish brown while the male is green. In fact it s a dottyback.

Its common names include eared eel blenny and green wolf eel. It usually hunts alone. It has a long body that s shaped like an eel s and is capable of changing its colour. It is a pseudochromid dottyback.

It requires a 50 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of hiding places. Although large the carpet eel blenny is not eaten by people. The aquarium should have a tight fitting lid to prevent escape. The carpet eel blenny preys on small fish crabs and shrimps.

The wolf eel is often referred to as a blenny. Its body is a brownish color with highlights of green. It is however harvested from the wild for the live aquarium trade and sold as wolf eels.
